Preamble

Of course when you copy a file, it creates a 'copy' using the same date and time, but there are times when I want to reset the date of a file to some specific date and/or time. Maybe even set it to the same date/time as some other existing file. Hence this little utility.

It has a simple interface, shown by using -?

Informatique Rouge - SET FILE DATE/TIME UTILITY - 30 March, 2007
Useage: DateFile FileSpec [Switches]
Switches: Each preceeded by '-' or '/', and space delimited
-? This brief help, and exit.
-ddd:mm:yyyy Date to use for update.
-rRefFile Reference file, used for update date and time.
-s Use system time for update date and time.
-thh:mm:ss Time to use for update. Use only 24 hour time.
 -u Update chosen files (Def=Off)

Note nothing will be changed until the -u switch is added...

Downloads!

Some downloads ... as usual, take care downloading and running things from the web. It is highly recommended that you download the source, and compile it yourself. Microsoft offers an 'Express Edition' for free, of their C/C++ IDE tool, Visual C/C++ ...

Downloadable binary (e), and source (-) for WIN32
Date Link Size Notes Digest
2007-09-22 DateFilee02.zip 10,252 Runtime bd6699a6ed76815ff6618359aa4ad4ac
2007-09-22 DateFile-02.zip 9,191 Source 88cfee60d9de9b3334655840c204ac72

If clicking on the above link does not start the download, try a right mouse click, and in the context menu that should appear, choose 'Save Target As...'. You will then have the choice where to save the zip file on your local disk... Windows XP and Vista will natively allow an unzip, or there are free tools like 7-zip to do this.

Have fun ;=))
